NGOs block seismic survey

A GROUP OF NON-GOVERNMENT ORGANIZATRION has imposed a condition involving an impending seismic survey intended to find out if hydrocarbon or natural gas deposits are lying untapped in the seawaters off Bohol and Cebu.

Speaking through its president lawyer Raul Barbarona, the Bohol Alliance of Non-Government Organizations (BANGON) categorically defined its stand that no seismic survey shall be conducted until the national government thru the department of energy and the Norasia Energy Ltd. and local government units shall have entered into a memorandum of agreement which will spell out the mechanisms to ensure the following:

Evasco cleared from
disqualification case

THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) recently junked the disqualification case filed against Maribojoc Mayor-Elect Leoncio "Boy" Evasco Jr.

The case stemmed from a petition-complaint filed last April 14, this year, by Lakas mayoralty candidate Philip Medequiso, questioning the residency requirement of the newly-elected chief executive.

4-day sea-K group training
to empower Talibon women

TALIBON-The Bohol Social Welfare and Development team (SWAD) recently organized the women in barangay San Jose and, through a four-day training, encouraged them to go into forced savings and benefit from the micro-finance and home improvement assistance that the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) offers through the SEA-Kaunlaran (SEA-K) program.

Initially, the Bohol SWAD was able to gather at least 20 members of the San Jose Women Association who had completed the training on SEA-Kaunlaran Integrated Program Level I Compulsory Group Training.
