extort probe far from
over; Pernia cries treachery
In
his haste to get cleared, a mediaman investigated for an alleged
extortion attempt is now facing another charge from the same
accuser, this time, about treachery.
Antonieto
"Boy" Pernia, head of the Bohol Poverty Reduction
Management Office (BPRMO) cried treachery after Alfredo Amora
, the mediaman investigated for alleged extortion, mounted
a text brigade right after the first hearing of the investigation
took place.
On
complaint of Pernia, the Bohol Tri-Media Association (BTMA)
investigated Amora for his alleged attempt to extort from
Pernia cover up money in exchange for a favorable press treatment
arising from the loss of cooperative funds managed by the
BPRMO.

After
the first hearing, Amora may have thought that he was
already off the hook.
In
his text messages to friends in media, Amora cited Pernia's
"silly pride"
as behind the extort allegations.
The
silly pride tag did not sit well with Pernia.
He
said contrary to the claims of Amora, the BTMA investigation
was far from over.

Saying
that the issue was not his silly pride, Pernia countered that
his call for an investigation by the BTMA on the actuation
of Amora was centered on his accusation of extortion and blackmail.
This
issue is still unresolved, Pernia maintained.
Commenting
on Amora's text brigade, the BPRMO head said committee members
handling the investigation branded the same (text brigade)
as unethical.
According
to Pernia, the text brigade only confirmed Amora's unethical
methods.
Pernia
was piqued of Amora's treatment of the news story involving
the loss of BPRMO funds when it was his predecessor who admitted
that money amounting to P140,000 was withdrawn during the
last election. Pernia's predecessor, Primo Digao, admitted
having withdrawn the P140,000 which he allegedly used as campaign
funds for his bid of Carmen municipal councilor.
Calling
Amora's antics as treacherous, Pernia said the text brigade
violated their agreement of friendship.
The
first hearing of the media investigation would have ended
in amicable settlement if not for Amora's text brigade which
reportedly provoked Pernia into crying treachery.
