Line of Japan inks deal
with Cristal e-College
"K"
LINE AND Cristal e-College signed last Friday a Memorandum
of Agreement (MOA) forging a tie-up designating the latter
as a recipient of the Maritime Education Scholarship Program
(MESP) grant from Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. of Tokyo, Japan.
This grant will provide for full scholarships of 22 cadets
from Bicol, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental and two other cadets
from Bohol. They form the 1st batch of "K" Line
scholars this year.
The
signing ceremony at the function room of Cristal e-College
was unprecedented for the participation of top executives
of "K" Line and its ship management officials in
the Philippines. Capt. Kozo Eguchi, Managing Executive Officer
of Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha Ltd of Tokyo, Japan led the delegation
composed of other top executives like: Mr. Saturo Kuboshima,
President of KLSM, Capt. Masanori Okada, Head of HR Policy
Team, Capt Shimizu, Owners' Representative of "K"
Line, Capt. Makoto Kono, Principals' Representative of Taiyo
Kisen Co., Ltd. Capt. Michinari Shimizu, Principals' Representative
Ventis Maritime Corporation' CE Masami Mitsunaga, Superintendent
and Principals' Representative of "K", Dr. Virginia
Lineses, President of "K" Line Maritime Academy
(Phils)., Mr. Octavio Katigback, Chairman of the Executive
Committee, Ventis Corporation, Mr. Jose Ramon Garcia, President
of Ventis Corporation, Capt. Wilfred Garcia, Vice President
of Ventis Maritime Corporation, Capt. Lexington Calumpang,
Asst. Gen. Mgr. and Training Administrator, CE Peter Fadul,
Asst. Gen. Mgr and Training Administrator Veritas Maritime
Corporation, and CE Ireneo Sombero, Fleet Manager of NewFil
Marine Services.

to Dr. Nicerio L. Leanza, Director for Academic Affairs
and Research of Cristal e-College, the grant is a recognition
of the quality education in the institution, particularly
for its maritime programs - BS Marime Transportation
and BS Marine Engineering. The consistent performance
of maritime cadets in the MASP conducted nationwide
is an affirmation of CeC being selected as the 6th recipient
of the scholarship program grant from "K"
Line. Recently, 24 of its cadets placed in the top 300
of 10,000 maritime cadets who took the MASP national
examination.
