The
Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) has passed a resolution
requesting Secretary Reynaldo Berroya of the Department of
Transportation and Communication-Land Transportation Office
(DOTC-LTO) to recall the revocation of the participation of
Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel in enforcing traffic
rules.
In
a resolution unanimously approved in a recent meeting, the
PPOC cited that LTO-Bohol appreciated the assistance of PNP
in implementing LTO rules and regulations.
Moreover,
"there is no record to prove that the personnel of PNP-Bohol
abused the deputation
order issued to them by LTO," the resolution stated.
The
PPOC also hinted that PNP personnel can have a significant
role in enforcing traffic rules and regulations especially
on the inspection of vehicle registration and driver's license
which is one of the effective means to curtail rising crime
rates and traffic accidents brought about by use of illegal
drugs and liquor.
On
motion of Provincial Police Director Edgardo Ingking, the
PPOC approved the resolution calling for the return of the
team-up of PNP and LTO in enforcing traffic rules through
the recall of the revocation of deputation issued to PNP last
year.
PPOC
chair, Governor Erico B. Aumentado attested the resolution,
while Provincial Director Rustica Mascariñas of the
Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) signed
it as head of the PPOC secretariat.
In
past meetings, Ingking and officials of LTO agreed that the
assistance of police elements in enforcing traffic rules could
help a lot in solving crime incidents in the province. (PGMA)
