HAS BIG DREAMS for his family. One of them was to be home
in one piece later this month. But it was not destined to
be that way. Indeed, he will be home, this time, inside a
sealed crate. He is dead.
The
death of Alexander Mercader, 33, of Booy district, this city,
happened Wednesday night when the vessel he was on board collided
with two other ships in the seawaters off Kobe, Japan.

Rice
diseases hit
farms in 6 towns

BOTH
the dreaded rice tungro (characterized by yellowish stunted
plants) and rice blast diseases (matamata) have invaded a
rising number of paddies in Bohol, particularly in the towns
of Antequera, Loon, Pilar, Dagohoy, San Miguel and Ubay, resulting
to almost 80-percent drop in farm yields.
Among
the susceptible rice varieties are NSIC Rc 144, 130, 116H
(Mestizo 3) and IR 60.

Aumentado
leads inaugural rites
of TESDA language skills institute

Governor
Erico Aumentado joined other provincial officials and executives
of Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)
in leading the inauguration rites for the Language Skills
Institute regional site in Jagna on March 1.
TESDA
executives who graced the rites were Deputy Director General
Rogelio Peyuan TESDA Regional Director Rosanna Urdaneta and
Bohol Provincial Director Francisca Opog who joined First
District Rep. Edgar Chatto, former third district representative
Eladio Jala, Provincial Board Member Esther Corazon Galbreath
of the third district, Jagna Mayor Exuperio Lloren, Jagna
Parish Priest Msgr. Orencio Jubac, and the members of Jagna's
6th Sangguniang Bayan.
