Dumaluan
denies brains
role in celebrated Panglao
town rape-slay 4 years ago
As expected, former Panglao Mayor Doloreich Dumaluan issued
a blanket denial on the claims made by witness Alex Dasco
pointing to the former as the brains behind the rape-slay
of Vivian Dumaluan last April 27, 2004.
In
his 34-page counter-affidavit, Dumaluan described Dasco's
sworn statement implicating him as "false, manufactured,
self-serving and perjured".
Dasco,
a self-confessed participant in the rape of Vivian, pointed
to the former mayor's brother, Engr. Teofredo Dumaluan alias
Pingmay, Romeo Lapinig and Narciso Maghamil as the ones who
raped the victim.
"I
never masterminded the alleged rape and killing of Vivian
Dumaluan," the former mayor declared under oath.
He
also denied that he ordered Dasco on April 23, 2004 to rape
Vivian to be used as an issue in the elections.

"I
never called Dasco, my brother Engr. Dumaluan and Romeo
"Loloy" Lapinig to an alleged meeting on April
24, 2004 to order and plan the alleged rape and killing
of Vivian Dumaluan," the former mayor added.
He
also denied giving Dasco, Pingmay and Lapinig instructions
on April 28, 2004 and on any other day and time what
to do after Vivian died.
Dumaluan
likewise denied that he gave Dasco a silver watch for
men to be allegedly brought to the Criminal Investigation
and Detection Group (CIDG).

Among
other claims, Dasco said he was given the watch which he was
instructed to give to the CIDG.
Dumaluan
likewise denied that he ordered his close-in bodyguard to
order or entice Dasco into signing an affidavit alleging that
George Galo had a bite on his hand and that Randy Buntag and
a caretaker of the Roco Beach Resort were part of the raping
and killing of Vivian.
Galo,
whose affidavits led to the earlier cases filed against Maghamil
and Pingmay, is now being accused of the rape-slay in another
case filed by Dumaluan.
Dumaluan
also denied calling Dasco to his house on April 30, 2004 to
order him to kill Mayor Benedicto Alcala and never gave him
P300,000, a 9 .mm gun, an M16 Armalite rifle and a Superferry
ticket to carry out the alleged order.
"I
never instructed him how to use get away vehicles because
I never ordered such killing," Dumaluan added.
The
former mayor also denied "all the ghastly acts claimed
by Dasco" in his affidavit.
"I
strongly and consistently deny Dasco's charges because simply,
they are not true and they are all wild and fertile products
of his sick imagination, assisted by his evil mentors and
assistants whom only he knows," he added.
The
former mayor however did not mention where he was and what
he was doing at the time of the planning, execution and post-crime
activities.
Dumaluan
also repeated the claims he made during radio appearances
that the case filed against him was related to a land case.
During
the preliminary investigation, former Panglao councilor Nila
Montero allegedly confronted prosecution witnesses.
