Miner Chua fights back!

A Cebuano mining claimant is fighting back to clear his name after he was allegedly accused by Gov. Erico Aumentado as an "illegal miner".

Domingo Chua, holder of mining rights covering 35,000 hectares scattered all over Bohol presided over a press conference Friday to clear his name after it was dragged by the governor himself in his capacity as chair of Task Force Kabukiran.

Jagna hosts first radio on
health care

This eastern municipality has earned a pioneer status as host to a community radio that deals on health care.

It all started with questions like "how do we ensure that those with ailments regularly take their medicines and come back for check-ups?" A usual health concern by the Rural Health Unit of Jagna regarding peoples' attitude to medications Forrest Malakoff, CEO and president of Philos Health and Dr. Lefkos Aftonomos, 1st Philos medical volunteer came to Jagna only to be confronted with the same question.

Mining industry

 In the waning years of Martial Law, a joke circulated about a former First Lady being in the mining business. It was told that she went to a place where business was thriving and casually declared: "this is mine, this mine, etc."

The joke of course generated no small amount of laughter. But the painful reality is that, to paraphrase a popular song in the 70s, the joke was on us. It was good for a few laughs, but somebody else was laughing all the way to the bank.
