The
excitement of an Uy vs Uy match up in the coming mayoralty elections in Baclayon
is slowly fading away with the disclosure of one of the supposed protagonists
that it was nothing but loose talks. Board Member Felix Uy disabused the minds
of those who concocted the sibling mayoralty rivalry saying that it was next to
impossible that what was being billed would ever happen.
It
was never a mere concoction in Baclayon before the elder Uy made the clarification
that the next big fight in Baclayon is between the two Uy brothers. It was bruited
around then that the incumbents wife Elena will be pitted against Board
Member Uy himself. The
Baclayon lawmaker was interviewed last Thursday over DYTR's Kwentas Klaras where
he was asked to comment on the projected Uy vs Uy duel next elections. This supposed
brother vs brother election combat was borne out of recent developments where
Mayor Benny Uy's wife was caught in a running feud with the board member's wife
who is the number two councilor of Baclayon. The board member is married to the
former Marilyn Babsie Rubillar of Maribojoc. Commenting
on the alleged spat between two in-laws, Board Member Uy described their quarrel
as just an ordinary misunderstanding that can be settled as time goes by. He likened
the same to a lovers' quarrel which is normal among close relatives. With the
Uy vs Uy mayoralty battle sidelined for good, the Baclayon electorate will be
tickled pink to another possibility that actor Cesar Montano will throw his political
hat in next year's elections. This probability is buttressed by the fact that
he already became a registered voter in Baclayon. Interviewed
the other night during the 24 Oras evening newscast, the Baclayon native made
known his options for a political attempt. He failed to mention however, which
part of the Philippines he is running but definitely there was no doubt in his
statement that he was serious in his political plans. |
